Marina Acosta is a Ph.D. student at the RAND School of Public Policy and an assistant policy researcher at RAND. Her research interests include health care policy, health disparities, social drivers of health and anti-poverty policies.
Prior to pursuing her doctorate, Acosta worked in the healthcare field with a focus on the safety net. Most recently, she was the Health Equity Manager at L.A. Care Health Plan where she developed and executed enterprise-wide initiatives to address health disparities and the social drivers of health. Acosta earned her M.P.H and her B.S. in biology at the University of California, Los Angeles. She was awarded the E. Richard Brown Social Justice Award in graduate school and is a proud AmeriCorps VISTA alumna.
