Dareen Toro is a research leader at RAND Europe. She leads work on security, terrorism, counter-terrorism, (irr) migration, asylum, human trafficking, radicalisation, extremism, and resilience, and has extensive experience designing and directing large evaluations, impact assessments, studies and services in the UK, EU, neighbouring countries, and the MENA region. Toro has worked on a wide range of policy areas, but most of her work is around security, extremism, violence, cybersecurity, radicalisation, irregular migration and fundamental rights. She is also interested in exploring the use of AI in security, terrorism, extremism, and irregular migration. 

Toro was also a lecturer at Queen Mary University of London, where she taught EU, human rights and public law. She holds a Ph.D. in law from Queen Mary University of London.
