The Department of the Air Force (DAF) is expanding the commissioned officer career track to include specialist or technical roles. This report describes how the Army and Navy select, train, and promote officers in specialist or technical career tracks as a reference. Based on a review, DAF specialist or technical tracks could be available through lateral transfers, require specialized training, and have the same promotion structure as other officers.
