William Phillips (he/him) is a senior analyst at RAND Europe. Part of the Health & Care research group, Phillips has worked extensively on research and evaluation projects in the health and wellbeing arenas, for clients spanning the public, private and third sectors. His main area of interest is in mental health and psychosocial work dynamics. Recently, Phillips completed a portfolio of work funded by the ESRC looking at the key determinants of poor mental health and productivity in the workplace. He is currently working on three NIHR funded projects: i) looking at the impact of HS2 on the mental health of local residents, ii) evaluating the impact of recent investment into drug and alcohol treatment in England, and iii) evaluating a tobacco dependency programme tailored to people with serious mental illness. Phillips holds an M.Phil. in economics from the University of Cambridge and a B.Sc. in mathematical economics and statistics from the University of Birmingham.
