The Impact of Rapid Transit on Urban Development

The Case of the Philadelphia-Lindenwold High Speed Line

W. Bruce Allen, Richard R. Mudge

Expert InsightsPublished 1974

A simple model of the impact of transportation savings on urban development is presented. The sensitivity of the model to several policy variables (e.g., transit fares, parking charges, station or interchange locations, etc.) is explored. The model is then applied to the Philadelphia-Lindenwold High Speed Line.
