Jared Mondschein

Physical Scientist, RAND; Professor of Policy Analysis, RAND School of Public Policy

Jared Mondschein is a physical scientist at RAND and a professor of policy analysis at the RAND School of Public Policy. At RAND, Mondschein focuses on the intersection of emerging technologies and foreign policy. Previously, he was on detail to the U.S. State Department's Office of the Special Envoy for Critical and Emerging Technology and Bureau of Cyberspace and Digital Policy, where he led the development and implementation of U.S. foreign policy addressing AI diplomacy, permanent magnet supply chains, and strategic capital flows. Mondschein's writings and commentary have appeared in the New York Times, Los Angeles Times, The Hill, Route Fifty, and other media outlets. He completed his Ph.D. in chemistry at Penn State University and his B.S. in chemistry at Union College.
