Julia Masterson is a defense analyst at RAND. Masterson previously worked as a Foreign Affairs Officer at the U.S. Department of State, in the Bureau of Arms Control, Deterrence, and Stability (ADS). She also supported the Secretary of State's International Security Advisory Board (ISAB). 

Before joining the Department of State, Masterson was a Research Associate at the Arms Control Association, where her work focused on Iran's nuclear program, Syria's chemical weapons program, and North Korea. She has completed fellowships with the Council on Strategic Risks and the Center for Strategic and International Studies. 

Masterson holds an M.A. from King's College London and a B.A. from the George Washington University.
