Water security is increasingly central to the work of water suppliers because of climate change, population growth, and aging infrastructure. For cities confronting a changing climate and dynamic decision-making environment, water security can be defined as the ability to avoid a crisis or the condition of being prepared to respond effectively to one. Prioritizing water security requires a proactive and holistic approach to avoid the worst outcomes of a water supply crisis.
