Abby Doll

Senior Political Scientist, RAND; Professor of Policy Analysis, RAND School of Public Policy

Abby Doll is a senior political scientist at RAND and a professor of policy analysis at the RAND School of Public Policy. Her research focuses on military capabilities assessment and military strategy, in particular, competition, multi-domain operations, and logistics and deployment challenges for future conflict scenarios, especially in the Indo-Pacific region. In addition, she also examines the geopolitical implications of emerging advanced artificial intelligence capabilities, particularly its impacts on stability. She also develops and executes expert-adjudicated wargames exploring new operational concepts. She has previously served as co-director of RAND's Center for Gaming and as RAND's analytic embed and liaison to U.S. Army Pacific. 

Prior to coming to RAND, Doll worked in the International Programs Office at Sandia National Laboratories on nuclear security, safety, and safeguards. She holds a Ph.D. from King's College in London in War Studies, an M.A. in international affairs with concentrations in intelligence and military policy from the George Bush School of Government and Public Service at Texas A&M University, and a B.A. in political science and a minor in mathematics from the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign.
