In partnership with JAPAN HOUSE Los Angeles and the Consulate General of Japan, the 12th annual RAND-hosted U.S.-Japan Alliance Series convened on February 17, 2026, to explore the current state and future of the alliance following the "new golden age" declared by President Donald Trump and Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi. Keynote speaker Shotaro Yachi, Japan’s first national security advisor, joined expert panelists from the United States and Japan.
